The John Roan A-Level Results

16th August 2018

Students from The John Roan School are today celebrating another excellent set of A-level results. Many are now bound for top universities across the UK, while others are taking up places on prestigious apprenticeship programmes. Once again students have proved that the school’s approach to post-16 provision is helping to shape successful young adults with opportunities to achieve their goals.

Headteacher Cath Smith expressed her delight at students’ strong showing: “Our vision is for students to be the best that they can be, and the outstanding results that we are celebrating today are testament to the fact our sixth form is providing the platform that they need to achieve this. What I’m particularly proud of is that the young adults leaving us today are well prepared to face the challenges and seize the opportunities that await them.”

The school’s overall value-added score for A-levels has gone up by almost 0.3 points, showing that at The John Roan students are making better progress on average than their peers nationally. Meanwhile, vocational students have also performed well in the new more rigorous Level 3 BTEC qualifications, with a pass rate of 98% and almost 50% achieving Distinction or Distinction* grades.
